This course introduces information about major insurance programs and federal health care legislation. Provide a basic knowledge of national diagnosis and procedure coding systems, and simplify the process of completing claims. |

This course will introduce students to the CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 codebooks. Students will learn the conventions used to navigate each book and gain an understanding of proper code selection. |

This course will teach students how the CPT and HCPCS books are used together and why proper coding plays an important role in the reimbursement process. It will also focus on physician and hospital guidelines for coding diseases from the ICD-9.
